100 (selbst-)aufblasbare Megabyte

"Merrill Lynch has lowered its rating on Apple shares from Buy to Neutral. The financial firm says Apple's execution "has been extraordinary" but questions the "upside in the stock" moving forward. Merrill cites the Intel transition that, while 2-3 quarters away, "could cause customers to pause, offsetting the halo effect." Additionally, revenue growth deceleration is expected in the next 1-3 quarters. "When everyone knows everything is going right for a company, sentiment is hard to improve," writes analyst Richard Farmer." Mehr bei MacNN.

Copland 2010?

John Siracusa: "So, here we are in 2005, with several major revisions of Mac OS X behind us. Maybe we Mac users are feeling a bit smug, knowing that we once again have The Best Operating System™. Of course, I felt that way in 1991 when System 7 was released, too. But a mere five years later, things were going downhill fast. Hm. Will Mac OS X suffer the same fate? Surely not, you say. Mac OS X is The World's Most Advanced Operating System! But this is exactly the kind of thinking that lets an OS crisis sneak up on you. It's worthwhile to think about what Mac OS X will need in order to remain competitive two, five, even ten years in the future."

Die Angst vor Apples iTMS-Dominanz

"Michael Nash, Warner's digital strategy chief, suggested labels might have no choice other than cut Apple's digital music sales off at a stroke," berichtet Andrew Orlowski von der CTIA. "What if Jobs says 39 cents or 29 cents per download - what then? The industry can say, OK we'll cut him of - very few people people buy music from digital downloads," said Nash, who pointed out that most of the music on iPods is from their own collections. The iPod won't disappear, he pointed out, and the decapitation will really feel no more painful than a gentle shave. "[Jobs] will figure out another model."

Update für Apple Workgroup Cluster

"Apple Computer on Tuesday updated its Apple Workgroup Cluster adding several third-party applications and a new Foundry switch. The new clusters have been revamped and now start at 8 processors, the company said. The original workgroup cluster was a great success, according to Apple." Mehr bei MacCentral. "While Apple doesn't put as much hoopla into its efforts in the enterprise space as it does in the consumer and professional graphics and video markets, the IDC analysts see the company making positive incremental steps in the right direction."

Das etwas dickliche RAZR V3x

Raz Vergl
